Ropemaking firm, Plymouth, Mass. Founded in 1824 by Bourne Spooner. A mill was opened in Welland, Ontario in 1905. In 1938 the firm purchased Consumers Cordage Company of Canada and in 1947 acquired Federal Fibre Mills of New Orleans. The company was merged into Emhart Corporation in 1965 and the cordage manufacturing plant was sold to Columbian Rope Company the same year. From the description of Records, 1824-1966 (inclusive).
